Ukrainian forces target russian vessel illegally acquired in 2014

Ukrainian drone successfully struck russian vessel in the Black Sea off the coast of Crimea on Monday, December 23rd. The incident, which occurred around 5:00 pm near the village of Chornomorske, targeted the Fyodor Uryupin tugboat. While the drone impact caused damage above the waterline, the vessel remained afloat.

This attack carries significant geopolitical weight due to the Fyodor Uryupin boat’s history. Built in 2010, the tugboat was illegally seized by russia in 2014. Despite being registered under russian flag, the vessel’s legal ownership remains with Ukrainian Chornomornaftogaz state-owned company.
