Footage shows Ukrainian strike on the TOR-M2DT system in Kherson region

Recently released footage reveals Ukrainian forces targeting and hitting rare russian Arctic variant of the TOR air defense system. The TOR-M2DT system, mounted on a tracked DT-30 transporter, was reportedly destroyed in February in Kherson region.

Built specifically for harsh Arctic environments, the TOR-M2DT system incorporates components based on the DT-30PM-T1 tracked platform. Russian sources claim it can function in temperatures as frigid as minus 50 degrees Celsius.

Each unit comprises two tracked modules: one for crew operations and fire control, and another housing radar and two launch modules for 4 surface-to-air missiles (either 9M331 or 9M332). The TOR-M2DT system is capable of engaging targets from 1 to 12 kilometers away and at altitudes ranging from 10 meters to 10 kilometers.

The Ministry of Defense of russia received the initial batch of 12 TOR-M2DT systems in November 2018. Initially designed to safeguard critical assets in the Arctic, these systems have found new application in Ukraine. Russian reports indicate that at least 6 TOR-M2DT units have been confirmed lost during the ongoing war.
