A joint drone operation wiped out one of russia's most destructive artillery systems in temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia

Ukrainian drone units have reportedly destroyed russian TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, marking another high-value loss for russian forces. The strike was carried out on April 18, 2026, by operators from the 414th Brigade in coordination with the 412th Brigade.

The TOS-1A is one of the most feared systems in russia's arsenal, designed to fire thermobaric rockets capable of devastating fortified positions and urban areas. Its destructive power comes not only from the initial blast but also from the pressure wave and intense heat generated by its munitions.

According to the report, Ukrainian drone pilots successfully located and engaged the system, ultimately destroying it. The operation highlights the increasing effectiveness of Ukrainian unmanned systems in detecting and eliminating heavily protected, high-value targets deep behind enemy lines.

An update later confirmed that operators from the Lasar’s Group also participated in the strike, suggesting a broader, coordinated effort between multiple Ukrainian units. Such cooperation points to a growing level of integration among drone teams operating across different brigades.

As Defense Express previously previously reported, Ukrainian forces have reportedly carried out a coordinated strike deep inside temporarily occupied Crimea, targeting multiple naval and infrastructure assets in what appears to be a complex, multi-layered operation. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, fighters from the Alpha Special Operations Center executed the attack.
