The Svarog 424th Battalion eliminates an experimental electronic warfare complex designed to jam UAVs

Operators from Ukraine's Svarog 424th Battalion of the Unmanned Systems Forces have successfully located and destroyed a rare piece of russian electronic warfare equipment – the experimental KOP-2 system. The operation took place on an unspecified front line, where Ukrainian drone teams continue to neutralize critical enemy assets.

The KOP-2, short for Detection and Suppression System-2, is a modern russian system designed to detect and jam enemy drones. It scans the radio spectrum across a wide frequency range, identifies the specific frequency used by a UAV, and attempts to disable it with high-powered jamming signals.

This platform represents russia's latest attempt to counter the widespread use of Ukrainian drones, which have become essential tools for reconnaissance and precision strikes. The KOP-2 system is considered a costly and uncommon system, reportedly deployed to protect high-value assets, including air defense systems and key infrastructure.

Despite its intended role, the system proved ineffective in actual combat. The Svarog operators first delivered a precise strike that disabled the EW equipment. A follow-up hit then completely destroyed the system.

The exact method of targeting was not disclosed, but the successful engagement underscores the growing competence of Ukrainian drone units in locating and neutralizing electronic warfare threats. These efforts are crucial as russia increasingly relies on EW to disrupt Ukraine's drone operations at the tactical level.

As Defense Express previously reported, operators from Ukraine's Raid 413th Battalion, part of the Unmanned Systems Forces, successfully located and destroyed russian Strela-10 short-range surface-to-air missile system in Donetsk region. The engagement occurred during a routine reconnaissance mission involving Ukrainian UAV.

The UAV was detected by russian forces, who immediately launched a missile at the drone. However, the operator managed to avoid the strike through evasive maneuvers, allowing the aircraft to remain operational and continue tracking the threat.
