In Donetsk region, pilots of the Phoenix State Border Guard Service's unit have carried out a successful strike mission, eliminating a range of high-value enemy assets. According to the service, the operation targeted both heavy weaponry and supporting equipment of russian forces entrenched in the area.
During the combat sortie, the operators first identified and destroyed russian main battle tank, followed by the BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system, a weapon often used to bombard Ukrainian positions from a distance. Both strikes were executed with precision, severely reducing the enemy's firepower.
The mission did not end there. Using aerial reconnaissance data, the Phoenix unit went on to hit a series of secondary targets. These included russian UAZ-452 van, Ural military truck, additional armored vehicles, several motorcycles used for rapid troop movement, and fortified positions.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the coordinated strikes resulted in the elimination of around ten enemy soldiers. This estimate is based on observed damage and intercepted communications following the engagement.
The border guard pilots reportedly used unmanned aerial systems capable of both reconnaissance and precision strikes, allowing them to operate deep in contested zones while minimizing exposure to enemy air defenses.
As Defense Express previously reported, the Ukrainian Navy intelligence has intercepted radio communications confirming the loss of russian Su-30SM fighter jet southeast of the Snake Island in the Black Sea. The aircraft reportedly crashed under yet-to-be-determined circumstances while performing a combat mission.
According to the intercepted transmissions, russian forces suddenly lost contact with the aircraft during operations in the area. The cause of the incident remains unclear, with no official statement from Moscow as of the time of publication.
