Video from the frontline shows how Ukraine's Defense Forces fight off the russians, taking back the territories step by step

Press service of the Ukrainian Land Forces has published footage of a combat that took place near the town of Yahidne in northeastern Ukraine. An assault group of Ukrainian forces approached the trenches occupied by russian forces entrenched in a windbreak under fire cover from two YPR-765 infantry fighting vehicles.

Having disembarked from the vehicles, the soldiers assumed positions and entered the trench to engage in close combat with the enemy. The process is filmed by a drone hovering above the location.

The press service did not specify whether it was a successful assault or not. The exact location has been figured out by open-source intelligence enthusiasts, and DeepStateUA, one of OSINT communities, is currently considering these territories as controlled by russian forces.

Worth noting, such footage usually gets published only after a while from when the depicted operations take place. A potential outcome is a successful assault by Ukrainians with subsequent retaking of the position and stabilization of the frontline on the part of russians.

A brief reminder, the YPR-765 vehicles involved in the attack are Dutch versions of the American M113 tracked armored personnel carrier, with a 12.7mm machine gun.

Another notable detail is the preliminary preparation for the assault of the position: the ground is covered with artillery hits, although they could be left by either side, given the intense character of back-to-back fighting for contested areas. Apart from that, the windbreak trees have been completely obliterated.

In an earlier article from a few months ago, we highlighted how Ukrainian forces needed to apply scorched earth tactics to just see well-camouflaged trenches beneath the greenery, and the video provides just an example of that.

Sometimes, this is done with incendiary munitions deployed by small aerial FPV drones. Note: the following video is unrelated to the described episode, just an illustrative case of how Ukraine occasionally needs to literally scorch out the positions occupied by the russians:
