Ukrainian gunners destroyed four D-30 howitzers and one Msta-B unit in a coordinated operation that showcased the growing accuracy and speed of counter-battery fire

In a series of fierce engagements on the front line, the fighters of Ukraine's 44th Separate Artillery Brigade destroyed four russian D-30 howitzers and one 2A65 Msta-B gun. The unit shared combat footage showcasing their precise counter-battery strikes and the effectiveness of coordinated Ukrainian fire missions.

According to the Brigade, the operation was carried out as part of ongoing counter-battery efforts to suppress russian artillery positions that had been shelling Ukrainian defensive lines. Using a combination of reconnaissance drones and precision artillery fire, Ukrainian gunners successfully identified and neutralized multiple russian systems in a single coordinated action.

"The destroyed artillery systems, four D-30 and one Msta-B, have been effectively turned into scrap metal. Every shot from our guns and every strike from combat UAVs reflects the courage, coordination, and professionalism of our soldiers," the unit reported.

The D-30, a Soviet-era 122 mm towed howitzer, remains one of the most widespread artillery pieces in the russian arsenal, though its range and accuracy are inferior to modern Western systems used by Ukraine. The Msta-B, a 152 mm gun, represents a more powerful platform often deployed for long-range fire support. Its destruction marks a significant tactical setback for russian forces in the sector.

This latest success highlights the increasing effectiveness of Ukraine's counter-battery tactics, which rely heavily on real-time reconnaissance, rapid fire coordination, and integration between artillery and unmanned aerial systems. The combination allows Ukrainian forces to locate and destroy enemy guns within minutes of detection, reducing the threat to frontline troops and civilians alike.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence continues to conduct active combat operations along the Pokrovsk axis in Donetsk region, where fighters from the Tymur unit are engaged in high-intensity missions. Unique battlefield footage released by the Defense Intelligence showcases the precise and coordinated actions of this elite formation.
