The result of the Ukrainian drone strike on russian Dorogobuzh chemical plant in the Smolensk region, which took place on the night of February 25, exceeded all expectations.

Photos taken by local residents have also been published. They also confirm the extent of the damage.
Against this backdrop, it can be concluded that this russian enterprise is unlikely to resume production in the near future. This could affect russian ammunition production.
The fact is that the main product of the enterprise is ammonium nitrate. It is used not only in fertilizers but also in the production of explosives. The production and use of ammonium nitrate in russia have risen sharply since 2022.
However, the plant also produces nitric acid, a key compound in the production of gunpowder, TNT, and hexogen. The Dorogobuzh plant's official production capacity for ammonium nitrate and nitric acid was 1.56 million tons per year.
