Thanks to the effective activity of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the last two weeks, the ability of russian A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft to be used as a tool for intelligence, surveillance and target acquisition have significantly decreased

The spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, told about reduction of russia's ability to conduct surveillance using A-50 aircraft on the air of the national telethon.

"This is truly an achievement that has never been seen before. Because A-50 was actually shot down for the first time. Then, such an aircraft was shot down for the second time at a great distance and pushed further away from the frontline. This reduced the A-50's ability to conduct radar surveillance, to learn valuable information for enemy about planning attacks as well as attacks of Ukrainian aviation," Ihnat said.

According to Yuriy Ihnat, russia may try to renew the A-50 aircraft to replace those, that were destroyed by Ukrainian warriors.

"Restoring an airplane is not an easy thing. The question is in what condition it was mothballed. If everything is in working order. If there is a command from the top, I do not think it will take very long to restore it," the spokesman added.

Yuriy Ihnat noted that russia will try to resume its losses, including the A-50, as the terrorist state did with lost tactical aviation.

Earlier Defense Express reported that satellite images had indicated that russian A-50 aircraft were inoperable.
