Ukrainian air defense forces have intercepted another russian S8000 Banderol missile-drone over Odesa region during a nighttime engagement. The target was destroyed by fighters of the 208th Brigade.
The brigade published footage of the interception, showing russian target flying through the night sky. Moments later, the video captures a bright flash following the engagement, indicating that the Banderol system was successfully destroyed.

This is already the second S8000 Banderol system intercepted by the 208th Brigade that has been publicly shown this month. On September 2, the unit also destroyed the Banderol missile-drone over Odesa region.
During the September 2 engagement, Ukrainian air defenders used a man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) to intercept russian weapon. The latest footage does not specify which air defense system was used to destroy the target.
The S8000 Banderol is russian small-sized cruise missile powered by a jet engine. The weapon has been increasingly used by russian forces for strikes against Ukrainian targets.
According to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, S8000 Banderol system has a reported range of up to 500 kilometers. Its cruising speed is estimated at 520-560 km/h.
The same data indicates that the missile can reach a maximum speed of 620-650 km/h. These characteristics allow Banderol system to be used as a relatively long-range strike weapon despite its compact size.
