On August 25, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence released footage of a special forces operation in temporarily occupied Crimea. The video showcased a series of precision strikes against russian military targets, carried out by the Prymary special operations unit.

The operation was presented as both a military success and a symbolic act. In a message accompanying the footage, the Defense Intelligence emphasized that Crimea remains part of Ukraine, framing the strikes as a powerful reminder of Kyiv's sovereignty over the peninsula. The timing was also significant: the video appeared just one day after Ukraine celebrated its 34th Independence Day.

The Prymary unit is increasingly associated with high-profile missions aimed at weakening russia's grip on Crimea. Over the past year, Ukrainian forces have targeted radar systems, ammunition depots, and logistics hubs across the peninsula. Each strike is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to undermine russia's military presence in Crimea, disrupt supply lines, and gradually make the occupation untenable.

The release of the footage serves another purpose: boosting morale among the Ukrainians and demonstrating to international partners that Kyiv continues to operate effectively behind enemy lines.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian forces have regained control of Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region following a successful offensive operation conducted by the Artan unit of the Defense Intelligence, together with the 2nd Assault Battalion of the 3rd Assault Brigade.

According to intercepted communications, the operation caught russian troops by surprise. Enemy forces suffered heavy losses, with up to a company of personnel eliminated, forcing the russian command to divert reserves from other frontline sectors.
