russian Kasta-2E2 radar station was struck by Ukrainian drone near Vyshneve in Zaporizhzhia region, approximately 80 kilometers from the line of contact, Ukraine's 1st Regiment reported.
According to the unit, the radar was detected by Ukrainian forces operating in the area. The strike was carried out by a crew from the regiment's 1st Battalion using a relatively inexpensive Kotygoroshko drone.

Exclusive footage released by the regiment shows the moment of the strike. The drone hit the radar station directly, with impacts recorded on both its antenna and equipment section.
The Kasta-2E2 is a mobile three-coordinate radar system designed to detect aerial targets flying at low and extremely low altitudes. The system can be used to monitor airspace and provide information to other elements of an air defense network.
This makes the loss of the radar significant beyond the destruction of a single piece of military equipment. Radar stations such as Kasta-2E2 system can help russian forces detect and track airborne targets and maintain situational awareness over an area.
According to Ukrainian servicemen from the 1st Regiment, the destruction of the Kasta-2E2 system created a gap in russian radar coverage on the Huliaipole axis.
