The West Air Command of the Ukrainian Air Force has revealed the impressive combat performance of one of its IRIS-T surface-to-air missile systems, currently in operation defending the country's skies. On the launcher's side, crews have painted 32 silhouettes of downed cruise missiles and one strike drone, each symbolizing a confirmed kill during russian aerial attacks.
"This is our combat score. After every successful mission to repel a missile or air strike, we mark the vehicle with another silhouette. It's a tradition that lifts the spirits of the entire team," Dmytro, the commander of the launcher's crew, explained.

The IRIS-T system, a modern and highly effective German air defense platform, has proven to be an essential asset in Ukraine's layered air defense network. According to the crew, each enemy target, whether a cruise missile or drone, is intercepted with a single missile, achieving a 100% hit rate.
Operating around the clock, the unit plays a key role in protecting civilian lives and critical infrastructure in the west of Ukraine.
"We are highly motivated. We are defending our people, our land, and vital facilities. We will keep increasing the number of enemy targets painted on our launcher," Dmytro said.
The display of enemy silhouettes is not only a testament to operational success but also serves as a morale-boosting tradition that reflects the unwavering dedication of Ukraine's air defenders.
