This systematic approach by Ukrainian defenders is proving highly successful, as evidenced by the loss of six russian aircraft in the past two days alone. On February 18, the Su-34 aircraft was downed.

On February 17, two Su-34 bombers and one Su-35 fighter crashed. Notably, the latter crashed approximately 70-120 km from the current frontline.

The Cospas-Sarsat system, responsible for pilot location in emergencies, recorded incidents near Amvrosiivka in the Donetsk region, as well as Dyakovo in the Luhansk region. Additionally, one incident was detected within the territory of the russian federation, near the village of Lysogorka.

While the specific means employed to neutralize russian aircraft remain undisclosed, the Patriot system is the leading candidate. This system operates from ambush positions and is capable of engaging high-altitude aerodynamic targets with GEM-T missiles at ranges of up to 150 km, effectively countering the enemy’s use of bombs equipped with the UMPK kit, which have a range of 60-70 km.
