Ukrainian operation on August 14 confirmed to have destroyed russian Orion UAV at the Kursk Khalino airfield. Imagery suggests further damage to the MiG-29 fighter jet and second UAV

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on August 14 a multi-service strike targeted the Kursk Khalino airfield. Imagery from August 14, 2024, confirmed the destruction of one Orion UAV. The collocated MiG-29 fighter aircraft and second Orion UAV may have been damaged during the attack, the UK Defense Intelligence reports.

Introduced by the russian military in 2020, the Orion is a long-range, medium altitude UAV. It is primarily utilised as an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform, although it can be equipped with guided munitions.
