Syrskyi and Canadian Chief of Staff Discuss Strengthening Ukraine’s Air Defense

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, met with General Jenny Carignan, Chief of the Defense Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces, to discuss Ukraine’s defense needs

"I had the honor to welcome to Ukraine the Chief of Defense Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces, General Jenny Carignan," wrote Syrskyi.

Syrskyi briefed Carignan on the frontline situation and emphasized the importance of enhancing Ukraine’s air and missile defense against ongoing russian strikes.

Syrskyi also expressed gratitude to Canada for its contributions to defense coalitions focused on developing unmanned systems, air forces, armored vehicles, and information technology.

He also highlighted the effectiveness of the Canadian Armed Forces' UNIFIER training mission, which has trained nearly 43,000 Ukrainian servicemen over the past decade.

Additionally, Syrskyi expressed gratitude for Canada’s role in training Ukrainian F-16 pilots and providing language instruction for flight and technical personnel.

"I sincerely thanked General Jenny Carignan, the Government of Canada, and the Canadian people for their unwavering support of Ukraine in our fight for independence. I also expressed deep appreciation for Canada's unique military assistance, particularly the professional training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots and the specialized language instruction provided to flight and technical personnel," Syrskyi wrote.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Canada had confirmed full support for Ukraine’s use of military aid in russia.
