Ukraine has launched new strikes against the occupiers in Crimea, which targeted one of the russian military facilities in the town of Verkhnyosadove.

Footage from the location depicts thick smoke rising on the hill to the north of the populated area. Preceding this, local inhabitants were able to record the flight of the Storm Shadow or SCALP cruise missiles. In contrast, the local occupying authorities have already reported that it is just a small grass fire.

Despite reports from Telegram channels suggesting that the attack may have targeted a кussian radio-technical military unit, it appears that there is a more valuable objective in the vicinity of Verkhnyosadove – the heavily fortified backup command post of the russian Black Sea Fleet. This represents the most significant military facility in the area.

Originally established during the Soviet era, this command post was known in Ukraine as the Central Communication Center of the Ukrainian Navy, designated as unit A-2929. It was among the first facilities to be seized during russia’s annexation of Crimea and subsequently renamed as the 744th Communication Center under the Command of the russian Black Sea Fleet.

The center is comprised of several surface structures and an extensive antenna system, enabling communication with the fleet and higher-ranking offices. It also includes a substantial underground section. Ukraine is well-informed about the exact location of the bunkers.

Despite the robust defenses of this type of facility, the Storm Shadow missile is specifically designed for such targets. The missile’s 450-kg warhead consists of a leading penetrating charge that creates an entry point, followed by the main fragmentation and blast section that detonates inside the target.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, confirmed in a comment to Babel that there was indeed a missile attack.

“Ukrainian forces are targeting military assets of the occupiers in temporarily occupied territories, including Ukrainian Crimea,” Andriy Yusov stated.
