The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has reported the arrest of a russian Federal Security Service (FSB) agent who was involved in planning new missile attacks on the aviation infrastructure in the Kirovohrad region, the SBU reports. The agent was gathering intelligence on the technical state of airfields and the presence of combat aircraft, as well as ammunition depots, on behalf of russia. The SBU conducted a counterintelligence operation to apprehend the agent and prevent the planned terrorist attack on Ukraine.

It seems that the russians, through their agent, were also interested in determining the extent and effectiveness of previous airstrikes on the aviation infrastructure in the Kirovohrad region.

Additionally, the criminal’s objective was to gather intelligence on Ukrainian air defense systems that protect aviation targets. The occupiers planned to utilize this information for future attacks on Ukrainian defense forces.

At the same time, the SBU managed to apprehend the perpetrator while he was filming the territory of one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ units. It was revealed that the criminal was a resident of Kropyvnytskyi who was recruited at the beginning of 2023. Currently, he is in custody and faces a potential life sentence.
