Saab, Swedish defense company, has secured a five-year contract with the U.S. Army valued at $494 million for the supply of the AT4 disposable rocket launchers. This agreement permits the Pentagon to procure specific quantities of these weapons over the designated period.
The contract includes the AT4CS TW (confined space tandem warhead) variant, which is designed for use in enclosed spaces and is equipped with a tandem warhead capable of defeating certain types of reactive armor on armored vehicles. According to official specifications, the AT4CS TW has an effective range of up to 200 meters. In comparison, the standard AT4CS HP variant has an effective range of 300 meters, while the AT4CS ER variant, which features an advanced sighting system, extends the effective range to 600 meters.

While the armor penetration capability of the AT4CS TW version has not been disclosed, it is expected to be comparable to that of the standard and extended-range versions, which penetrate armor up to 420 mm and 460 mm.
This contract with the U.S. Army is a logical continuation of a long-standing relationship, as the Pentagon has been purchasing the AT4 launchers since 1985, with over 700,000 units acquired by 2023. The AT4 remains a popular choice globally, with 15 countries currently using the system.
