To forcibly stop the vessel, warning fire was opened from the russian patrol ship using automatic small arms

In the southwestern part of the Black Sea, military forces of the russian Black Sea Fleet opened warning fire to stop and inspect the Sukra Okan cargo ship. This vessel, flying the flag of Palau, was heading to the Ukrainian port of Izmail.

As reported by the Ministry of Defense of russia, the fire was conducted from the Vasily Bykov patrol ship.

“At the request to stop for inspection due to the transportation of prohibited goods, the captain of the cargo ship did not react. To forcibly stop the vessel, warning fire was opened from the russian patrol ship using automatic small arms,” the russians write.

Subsequently, they deployed a Ka-29 helicopter into the air, carrying a team of russian military personnel, in order to conduct a thorough inspection of the ship.

“Following radio conversations, the ship came to a halt, and the inspection team disembarked onto the cargo vessel. After the completion of the inspection team’s work on the Sukra Okan board, the vessel resumed its course towards the port of Izmail,” the Ministry added.
