Thirty-eight children have been killed and 71 more have been injured since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova reported this on Telegram – Ukrinform reports.
"As of 12:00 on March 6, 2022, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, 38 children were killed in Ukraine and 71 children were injured. These data are not final, as it is currently impossible to establish accurate information on the number of killed and wounded residents of Mariupol, Donetsk region and the city of Irpin in Kyiv region," the Ukrainian ombudsman said.
She noted that a one-and-a-half-year-old boy had died as a result of shelling by Russian aggressors in Mariupol in the last 24 hours. Also, according to her, in Bucha in Kyiv region, two seriously injured children died due to inability to receive medical care.
"On the way out of the city of Irpin, Kyiv region, Russian troops opened fire on civilians as they tried to evacuate from the city. At least three people were killed, including two children, and another one is in critical condition due to injuries," Denisova said.
According to her, a boy, who was born in Kharkiv 40 days ago, died of pneumonia, which he contracted during a several-day stay in a bomb shelter in Kharkiv.
As a result of the enemy's air attack on Bila Tserkva, missile strikes damaged 15 private homes with elderly people and children, and the number of victims is still unknown.
Denisova clarified that in the Hostomel-Bucha-Irpin area there are up to 70 children in shelters, there are wounded, but doctors and volunteers are not allowed to see children.
The ombudsman stressed that the Russian Armed Forces continue to grossly violate the fundamental rights of children - the right to life and health, guaranteed to every child in the world by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
"I call on international human rights organizations to take all possible measures to increase pressure on the Russian Federation to end military aggression against Ukraine," the Ukrainian ombudswoman said.

The eleventh day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the russian military invasion has begun.
The Armed Forces and units of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine are fighting fierce battles to maintain certain borders.
The enemy, suffering losses, makes constant attempts to avoid direct fire contact with our troops.
The Defense Forces are conducting a defense operation within the Southern, Eastern and Northern operational zones in order to repel the attack of the occupying forces, inflict maximum losses, prevent their invasion, maintain areas of the state and create favorable conditions for their defeat and regain control on the lost territories, repulses blows of means of air attack of the enemy.
The Joint Forces are conducting a defense operation in the eastern part of the Donetsk operational district. The main efforts are focused on defending the city of Mariupol and inflicting fire damage on the overwhelming forces of the enemy.
Other groups are conducting a defensive operation and conducting defensive battles in Slobozhansky and in the eastern part of the Tavriya directions.
In particular, units of the Ais-Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped enemy columns trying to advance towards Dnipropetrovsk region from Balakliya.

February, 24 – Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized a "special military operation" against Ukraine, Reuters report. A number of cities of Ukraine suffered a missile attack. Missiles hit several military facilities in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro cities. "Putin has just launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Peaceful Ukrainian cities are under strikes. Because of that one of the acute issues is to make NATO shelter the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President has signed the Ukrainian Government's application for the membership of Ukraine in the European Union and urges for the special procedure of accepting Ukraine to the EU.
The next day the European Parliament held an extraordinary plenary session in Brussels to assess Russia’s military assault on Ukraine. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy held a speech, greeted with standing applause. After a vote by the EU Parliament Ukraine got a recommendation on being granted a candidate status for EU membership.

On Friday 4, Ukraine's president has attacked NATO leaders over their refusal to implement a no-fly zone around the country. In a fiery speech, Volodymyr Zelensky said the West's reluctance to intervene had given Russia "a green light" to continue bombarding towns and villages. In his speech from Kyiv, Mr Zelensky said he disagreed that direct action could "provoke Russia's direct aggression against NATO".
