Ukrainian forces destroyed russian 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer on the Huliaipole axis, according to Ukraine's 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces.

The strike was carried out after operators of the 225th Regiment detected a russian artillery position during reconnaissance. Further reconnaissance confirmed that the target was russian 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system.

The 2S1 Gvozdika is a Soviet-designed 122 mm self-propelled howitzer used extensively by russian forces. Its tracked platform allows it to operate from positions closer to the front line and relocate after firing.

According to the Ukrainian military, the system has a maximum firing range of up to 15 km. This puts Ukrainian frontline positions within the weapon's effective engagement area when deployed on the Huliaipole axis.

After the target was confirmed, Ukrainian forces engaged the artillery system. The strike hit the vehicle's hatch, after which the system caught fire from inside.

The resulting fire led to the complete destruction of the self-propelled howitzer. The destruction of the target was recorded by a drone operated by Ukraine's 414th Brigade.
