“Just now in Mykolayiv oblast, our Marines, assisted by brothers from the Operational Command Pivden (South), shot down four enemy helicopters, three of them having been hit by one member of the Marines alone," the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said, citing its commander Rear Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa on Facebook Saturday.

“This is a perfect example of professionalism, courage and heroism. And yet another firm step toward our victory!”, Neizhpapa has said.

Reports came earlier in the day that a Russian Su-34 bomber-fighter had been shot down by a Ukrainian ground-to-air missile in the skies over Chernihiv, northern Ukraine.

Videos shared on social media showed two Russian pilots parachuting as they flee the aircraft; photos and clips shared on Twitter claim one of the two pilots, identified as Major Krasnoyartsev of the Russian Air and Space Forces, survived and was captured by Ukrainian soldiers while the other died.
