The Kremlin is preparing a theatrical show of force and manipulating the information space to amplify its impact

A video that was recently filmed in Moscow, russia's capital, has been made publicly available. Its author seems to have "unexpectedly" found himself at a rehearsal of a russian army parade in preparation for the May 9 celebrations.

The video shows, among other things, KamAZ-6350 trucks carrying mounted Shahed drones, as well as T-34-85 tanks placed on gun carriages. This can be seen as the Kremlin's preparation for a propaganda "show of force" and the simultaneous shaping of the information space.

In the video, you can see a fairly wide range of equipment and weapons of the russian Armed Forces, which is to be demonstrated on May 9 in Moscow:

- The RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles, the 9K720 Iskander ballistic missile systems, and S-400 air defense systems;

- The Kurganets-25 with Epoha combat module, the VPK-7829 K-17 Bumerang wheeled infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A and the BTR-60;

- The 2S43 Malva or the 2S5 Giatsint-S artillery, BM-30 Smerch MLRS, and TOS-2 Tosochka flamethrowers;

- KAMAZ-6350 with launchers for Shahed and Lancet drones, Z-STS Akhmat vehicle in a new variant with a 4x4 chassis, Tigr, Spartak and Typhoon-K armored vehicles.

It is quite possible that russians will end up showing a much wider range of equipment and weapons during the May 9 celebrations in Moscow. However, the following conclusion can already be drawn from what has been shown. In its propaganda campaign, the Kremlin is going to rely on a combination of its own mythology about World War II and a demonstration of its ability to continue waging war against Ukraine.

Notably, russians are set to exhibit the SU-100 self-propelled gun — absent since 2015 — alongside armored vehicles such as the Kurganets and K-17 Bumerang, which have yet to see combat in Ukraine but frequently attract significant media interest.
