The latest delivery includes the IRIS-T SLM and SLS systems to strengthen air defense

Germany has recently bolstered Ukraine’s air defense capabilities by delivering new IRIS-T air defense systems, including both medium-range (SLM) and short-range (SLS) surface-to-air missile systems. According to Christian Freuding, head of the special task force for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, during an interview with RND.

According to Christian Freuding, the recent shipment included the IRIS-T SLM battery and two IRIS-T SLS launchers, marking a significant step in enhancing Ukraine’s defensive posture against aerial threats. Furthermore, he announced that Germany plans to provide two additional air defense systems to Ukraine within the year.

Notably, the IRIS-T SLM battery was co-financed by Norway as part of a German initiative, reflecting a collaborative effort among European nations to support Ukraine amid the ongoing war.
