The russian forces stationed on the peninsula reportedly lost multiple air defense missile launchers and perhaps more importantly, one radar

Ukrainian long-range attack on the occupied Crimea on August 2nd night has resulted in destruction of four launchers of russian S-400 air defense system, Ukrinform reports citing the Crimean Wind community on Telegram.

Earlier reports also suggest a 92N6 radar of this system was affected by this strike, landing on the heights of Kaya-Bash in Sevastopol. The community shared a video allegedly showing a salvo of ATACMS ballistic missiles being fired at Crimea.

For a reminder from Defense Express, the 92N6 radar is the centerpiece of a tactical-level S-400 battery. One such battery can consist of up to 12 launchers but 4 to 6 is the usual number. In practical terms, this strike could have wiped out an entire deployment site of S-400, creating a breach in air defense there.

Another point that should be noted is the fact S-400 once again proves incapable of effectively neutralizing ballistic threats, even though this capability was declared for the systems by the russians.

Still, the results of the strikes are yet to be clarified. The official Ukraine hasn't reported on this air attack yet, although the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces mentioned an "attack on an air defense system and a radar" without further details.
