​First Commercial Ship Departs from Odesa Port, Headed for Bosporus, Minister Kubrakov Reveals Temporary Corridor Initiative

The container ship that had been in the port of Odesa since February 23, 2022, left the dock and is heading towards the Bosporus

The first commercial ship within the framework of the temporary corridor has departed from the ports of Odesa and is heading towards the Bosporus. This was announced by the Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov.

“The JOSEPH SCHULTE container ship (flag of Hong Kong) left the port of Odesa and is moving through the temporarily established corridor for civilian vessels to/from the Black Sea ports of Ukraine,” Oleksandr Kubrakov wrote.

The container ship had been in the port of Odesa since February 23, 2022, departed from the Vorontsov Lighthouse and is heading towards the Bosporus. The vessel is carrying a cargo load exceeding 30,000 tons (comprising 2,114 containers), including a significant amount of food supplies.

“The corridor will be primarily used for the urgent evacuation of ships that were docked at Ukrainian ports, including Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdennyi, when the full-scale invasion started,” Oleksandr Kubrakov noted.
