This unguided aircraft rocket, which is designed to strike ground targets, was developed in the 1970s, according to CBC.
It was adopted by the Department of National Defense of Canada in the early 1970s as well as decommissioned in the early 2000s.

The Canadian Armed Forces have a stockpile of 83,300 such rockets, and only some of them no longer have warhead.
"Instead of making Canadians pay millions of dollars to decommission these weapons, they should be given to Ukraine to use them in the defense of sovereignty," leader of the opposition Conservative Party of Canada, Pierre Poilievre said.
In the 1970s, the CRV7 rocket was the most powerful unguided aircraft rockets available at the time.
Today, the CRV7 remains one of the most powerful air-to-ground attack rockets. It has become the standard for Western-aligned forces, excepting the United States.
