Brand-New Kronshtadt Factory in russian Dubna on Fire After Ukrainian Drone Attack

The newly-built Kronstadt plant in Dubna just began operating in 2022, in a city with little to no air defenses despite Kh-101 missiles being also assembled there

Early in the morning of May 28, Ukrainian long-range attack drones successfully struck the JSC Kronshtadt military-industrial enterprise in the russian science town of Dubna, in the north of Moscow region. The company specializes in making unmanned aerial systems, such as the Orion reconnaissance and combat drones. In addition, it has recently begun to produce long-range attack weapons, e.g. the Banderol cruise missile.

Locals filmed multiple Ukrainian Liutyi kamikaze drones land a series of precise hits on an industrial facility with Kronshtadt's logo (KT) painted on its walls.

Another video, taken after the hit, captured a powerful fire raging inside one of the plant's workshops. It is visible that the outer metal lining was torn off and bent outward, indicating an explosion had occurred inside the room.

Particularly noteworthy, it was the newest production facilities of Kronstadt, launched in 2022, that came under attack. Basically, it was a completely new enterprise that consumed more than $53 million of investments.

The idea behind building the factory in Dubna was to utilize the synergy with two other enterprises located nearby. First is the Dubnensky Machine-Building Plant, bought by Kronshtadt in 2020. Some sources claim the Ukrainian attacks targeted this facility, too.

The other is the Raduga State Machine-Building Design Bureau where the Kh-101, Kh-59, Kh-69 cruise missiles, and the Kh-32 high-speed missile are produced.

Theoretically, this enterprise — and the whole of Dubna in general — was supposed to have utmost air defense cover, considering their strategic value. However, in the footage from the site all that is recorded is anti-aircraft artillery and machine guns at work.
