Ukraine's State Border Guard Service has received a second DITA wheeled self-propelled howitzer from its Czech partners, a system that has already proven itself in combat as a precise, highly mobile fire platform. The delivery marks a continued deepening of defense cooperation between Kyiv and Prague amid ongoing frontline demands for rapid, survivable artillery.
The DITA system is built around NATO-standard 155 mm ammunition and is capable of striking targets at distances of up to 39 kilometers. This range places it among the modern long-reach artillery systems that Ukraine increasingly relies on to counter russian forces, disrupt logistics, and suppress hostile fire positions.

One of the system's defining qualities is its exceptional mobility. Designed for rapid deployment and withdrawal, the DITA howitzer can move, fire, and relocate in a fraction of the time required by older artillery pieces. In the era of pervasive russian drones and counter-battery radars, this shoot-and-scoot capability directly translates into higher survivability and sustained effectiveness on the battlefield.
The platform's engineering emphasizes automation at an impressive scale. While traditional self-propelled howitzers require larger crews to perform loading, aiming, and fire-control procedures, the DITA system reduces this to a team of just two personnel. This not only frees manpower for other frontline tasks but also significantly reduces exposure to enemy fire.

Operationally, the process begins with the operator inputting target coordinates into the onboard system. From there, a fully integrated ballistic computer takes over. It calculates the necessary parameters, coordinates the loading mechanisms, and manages the aiming process automatically. The system then prepares itself for firing without the need for manual intervention.
This high degree of automation allows the DITA system to execute fire missions faster and with greater consistency. Under conditions where seconds can determine whether a crew survives or falls under counter-battery fire, such precision and efficiency provide a decisive tactical advantage.
