Belarusian defense industry has created an armored personnel carrier better than russia, but its mass production has not started yet

Lukashenko's regime held an exhibition called National Security. Belarus-2024 in June 2024. The Belarusian-made Volat V2 APC was demonstrated at this exhibition again.

On the one hand, the Belarusian Volat V2 has always attracted attention as successfully designed armored vehicle. It was created exclusively by Belarusian defense industry. On the other hand, it seems paradoxical that this APC still does not have the status of a production vehicle. It still appears only at various exhibitions and field tests.

It should be noted that Volat V2 was presented in June of 2021 for the first time. Even then, this armored vehicle was positioned as Belarusian alternative to russian BTR-82A APC or wheeled VPK-7829 Bumerang APC.

Even then, it was known about the conceptual advantages of Belarusian Volat V2 such as a complete redesign of the layout with the engine and transmission compartment in the front, as well as the crew placement in the stern and a new hydropneumatic suspension.

Belarusian Volat V2 has also a better level of armor protection than russian BTR-82A, with a weight of 22 tons.

These advantages make it possible to create a whole series of armored vehicles based on Volat V2.

Although the Lukashenko's regime has hinted at the desire to have its own wheeled armored personnel carrier in service, the Volat V2 has been appearing mainly as an exhibit at exhibitions for the past 3 years. From time to time, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus also shows footage of tests of this armored vehicle, but the results are not reported.
