Warriors from the 106th Battalion of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade successfully captured russian BMP-2 armored vehicle that had been submerged underwater for two years. The vehicle, abandoned by retreating russian forces, was left fully loaded with ammunition in a local pond, where it remained hidden for an extended period due to rising water levels.
However, following recent battles, a dam was damaged, causing the water level in the pond to drop. This exposed the BMP-2 vehicle, now visible in the middle of the water. Seizing the opportunity, the brigade quickly formulated a plan to recover the vehicle and incorporate it into Ukraine’s defense efforts.

The operation, which took over a month and a half to prepare, culminated in the retrieval of the armored vehicle. After necessary repairs, the BMP-2 vehicle will be put to use against russian forces, adding a valuable asset to Ukrainian defense arsenal.
While the success of the operation was hailed as a brilliant and heroic achievement, the brigade also reflected on the broader issue.
“If our troops had enough modern equipment, they might not have had to risk their lives and health for such monstrosities,” the brigade stated in a video shared on their channel.
