Ukraine has officially launched serial production of its new Octopus drone interceptor, a domestically developed system designed specifically to counter russian Shahed kamikaze drones. The announcement was made by Ukraine's Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal, who emphasized that the technology has already proven itself in real combat conditions. According to the Minister, the design has been transferred to three manufacturers, while another eleven companies are preparing to open their own production lines.
The Octopus project represents a significant milestone in Ukraine's push to expand domestic capabilities in air defense technology. Developed directly by Ukraine's Armed Forces, the interceptor is tailored to address the evolving threat of low-flying, slow-moving, explosive drones that russia continues to deploy against Ukrainian infrastructure. The expansion of manufacturing across multiple companies reflects a broader policy shift within the Ministry of Defense.
