russians experience problems in building their new Project 10510 Lider nuclear-powered icebreaker named "Rossiya." As reported by russian media, the total cost of the ship may increase two times or more, the shipyard also cannot stick to the schedule: the deadline will be postponed in a traditional russian way.
The contract for the construction of the Project 10510 icebreaker was awarded to the Zvezda shipyard in April 2020, the works began in July same year. The plan was for this ship to enter service in 2027.

However, even at this point the workers are already far behind the schedule: as of march this year, there is only 5% of total work done, while the schedule requires at least 15% progress for the time being.

There are multiple reasons for that: the complaint is towards the shipyard which has to hire more specialists for hull and welding works, but the main problem is that russia cannot receive necessary components.
The media report of disruption in the supply of large hull castings: the russians hoped that throughout 2022 these components will be supplied by the Ukrainian Energomashspetsstal metal works plant. But this facility, located in Kramatorsk, was torn apart with bombing on May 5 launched by the russians themselves – the attack destroyed all the equipment at the press forging department of the plant.
At the same time, the contract with another supplier, the UZTM-KARTEX, has not been signed yet. So the components for further construction will come no sooner that in August 2025. In addition, the cost of the icebreaker will skyrocket: earlier, it was estimated at RUB 128 billion (around $1.6 billion at the current exchange rate), now it will increase by approximately 40–60% up to 204.8 billion rubles, or $2.65 billion.
