Massive blast shatters plant, prompting evacuation and raising questions on cause and kamikaze drone involvement

The russian Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant, a subsidiary of Rostec, responsible for manufacturing and developing optical instruments, particularly for military use, ceased to function indefinitely.

The reason was a massive explosion of unknown origin on its premises, resulting in shards flying kilometers away from the epicenter. Given the extensive damage caused by the explosion, it suggests a powerful detonation.

A prevailing theory in russia is that the explosion originated from a storage facility of pyrotechnic materials belonging to the company Pyro-Ros, which rents a space on the plant’s premises.
