On 23 August 2022, in the first anniversary of the International Crimea Platform, the online Summit of the ICP took place. It brought together world leaders of states and governments, international organizations, in joint efforts to further enhance Ukraine’s collective response to russia’s temporary occupation of Crimea.
This year, there were more guests at the summit than previously: more than 60 foreign participants (countries and organizations).

Among others, the following participants were in the summit:
- The Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau;
- The Chancellor of Germany Chancellor Olaf Scholz;
- The Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida;
- Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg;
- Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić.
The Crimean Platform 2022 summit was focused on discussing the following main topics:
- The role of the temporary occupation of Crimea in the deployment of full-scale aggression against Ukraine;
- Joint efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in the region of the Black and Azov Seas;
- Further steps in response to Russia's violation of human rights and international humanitarian law in Crimea, in particular regarding ethnic Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars;
- Strengthening the policy of non-recognition of any change in the international legal status of Crimea;
- Effectiveness of sanctions, their strengthening and prevention of circumvention.
Most important comments upon the situation from Ukraine’s partners:
- The President of France Emmanuel Macron urged not to show weakness towards Russia and not to compromise with it.
- The Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson urged to continue to provide Ukraine with all the necessary military, humanitarian, economic and diplomatic support to counter russian aggression.
- The President of the European Council Charles Michel said that the EU does not recognize the occupation of Crimea.
- The President of Turkey Recep Erdogan said that the war must end with a just peace based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
- The Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Andersson announced that Sweden will allocate an additional package of assistance to Ukraine in the near future.
- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine is facing a difficult winter, so the Alliance must establish long-term support.
Also, during his speech, the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau announced new sanctions against the russian federation.
According to the Crimean Platform results, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, emphasized that Ukraine does not attack the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territories. The President also said that Ukraine will return Crimea by any means the country decides.
The President Zelenskyy said that he does not plan to transfer the C-in-C of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny to another position.
He added that Zaluzhny and the entire team perform their duties efficiently.
