The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile (NATO reporting name AS-24 Killjoy) although positioned by russian propagandists as hypersonic, is not. However, this missile still remains an extremely dangerous weapon, given that Ukraine has only a limited number of means to counter this threat

On Thursday, December 14, the Russian occupying forces used Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles, which were launched from the MiG-31K aircraft, to attack Ukraine. This happened four months in a row, since the last time the enemy used these missiles for their terrorist purposes against Ukraine. The previous launches of the Dagger missiles were intercepted by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on August 11, when the enemy fired four missiles, one of which was shot down.

Regarding the attack by Kh-47M2 aeroballistic missiles on Thursday, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the Russians used Kh-47M2 Kinzhal to attack the city of Starokostyantiniv, Khmelnytskyi region. The Ukrainian military shot down one Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile. This was reported by Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat. He refused to comment on the information about the consequences of this enemy attack. "Let the enemy there draw their own conclusions, let's not feed them information about where they aimed and where they hit," Ignat remarked.

It is worth noting that this was a complex attack, when the enemy several times a day raised it’s the Kynzhal aeroballistic missile carriers - MiG-31K aircraft - and, judging by the reports on the official account of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, carried out both real and probable deceptive (dummy) launches (so-called electronic launches with the help of EW means). Also, during some sorties, enemy planes did not launch missiles.

In particular, the first alarm (note that we are talking about the messages that were made public by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to the Kynzhal missiles) regarding the take-off of the MiG-31K interceptor was announced at 11:07 and it lasted until 12:42, but the were no missiles launches.

At 2:09 p.m., the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned for the second time about the takeoff of the MiG-31K and, accordingly, warned about the danger of using missiles by the enemy, declaring an air alert. As early as 2:21 p.m., missiles were launched in the area of Starokostiantyniv city, Khmelnytskyi region. At 14:52, the enemy launched missiles from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation in the direction of the Sumy region, Ukraine. At 2:59 p.m., it was reported that the threat had been defeated.

A little more than half an hour later, at 15:35, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced an air alert for the third time due to the takeoff of the MiG-31K. At 15:45 it was announced that missiles would be fired at Kyiv as well as at Starokostiantyniv again (3 targets in this direction). Further, it was reported about a missile in Zhytomyr region, which was heading west, approximately in the area of Rivne and Volyn regions. At 16:14, it was announced that the threat of the enemy using missiles from the MiG-31K aircraft had been repulsed.

The fourth alarm was announced at 5:30 p.m. due to the MiG-31K take off from the Savasleika airfield. Already at 5:50 p.m., the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported another launch of the Kynzhal missiles from the east, according to unofficial information, these were probably dummy launches of false targets. At 6:36 p.m., the Air Force reported that the threat had been defeated.

We will remind, as previously reported in the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (not including today's attack), since the first interception of the Kynzhal missile in the sky over Kyiv on May 4 of this year, when the myth about the russian "unparalleled" hypersonic weapon was ruined, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces intercepted 15 missiles of this type at all.
