The General Staff of Ukraine reported a successful strike on the Khalino air base in russia's Kursk region, damaging two high-value military assets

Ukraine's 15th Brigade has carried out a successful strike against russia's Khalino air base in Kursk region, damaging key military assets used by the russian forces.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the brigade successfully hit russian MiG-29 fighter jet and Pantsir-S1 self-propelled air defense system during the operation. Both platforms play important roles in russia's air operations and air defense network.

The Khalino is a dual-use airfield located about 7 kilometers east of the center of Kursk. The site hosts the Kursk Vostochny Airport, which has remained closed to civilian traffic since russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, as well as a military air base supporting russian aviation activities.

The destroyed MiG-29 aircraft was worth approximately $25 million, while the Pantsir-S1 system has an estimated value of around $20 million. Together, the operation may have inflicted roughly $45 million in equipment losses, excluding the broader operational impact of removing these assets from the battlefield.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian border guards eliminated two russian artillery guns, a mortar, an armored vehicle, and three soldiers during a series of precision drone strikes on the North Slobozhanske and Kursk fronts.
