The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved new Ukrainian Kozak-5MED medical armored vehicle for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This vehicle is specifically designed for the evacuation of wounded and injured service members from the battlefield.
The Kozak-5MED vehicle is built on the chassis of the American Ford F-550 heavy pickup truck. It can transport four lying wounded or six seated individuals, along with the driver and medical evacuation personnel. The vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine producing over 330 horsepower and features an automatic transmission.

The armor of the Kozak-5MED vehicle provides protection for the crew and passengers against fragments and 7.62 mm caliber bullets. Additionally, the vehicle’s bottom has reinforced protection capable of withstanding explosions equivalent to 6 kg of TNT.
