russians continue developing a comprehensive defense system against kamikaze surface vessels

The Tallamho Design Bureau informed russian propaganda media that it plans to conduct tests of its new Aqua acoustic water sensor on the Black Sea coast. This sensor is designed to detect Ukrainian kamikaze surface boats, which have inflicted serious losses on russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

The bureau stated that it developed the sensor in response to a request from the russian military. A test batch of Aqua sensors, produced in the form of buoys, has already been created.

The sensor detects USVs [uncrewed surface vessels]. Operators deploy buoys as far from the shore as possible, and they transmit information and location data to the control panel if they detect sounds resembling the noise produced by USVs," Tallamho noted.

Overall, detecting these boats is an important step in countering this threat, which the russian military continues to monitor, even considering the fact that there have been no recent attacks on russian ships in the Black Sea.

Recently, we reported that russia is currently working on new tactics to counter surface kamikaze boats, such as the Magura V5, and is testing FPV drone launches from helicopters.

Regarding the Tallamkho design bureau, let us recall that it was established only in 2022, is based in Grozny, and specializes in IT developments.

Previously, Defense Express reported that this bureau developed the second generation of a budget-friendly alternative to the 1B75 Penicillin artillery-reconnaissance system.
