The United States has approved the sale of equipment and services worth more than $300 million to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities and secure its communications infrastructure. The package includes critical support for the Patriot missile defense system as well as satellite communication services provided by Starlink.

According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the U.S. Department of State authorized the sale of equipment and technical assistance for maintaining and supporting the Patriot systems valued at $179.1 million. These systems have become a cornerstone of Ukraine's ability to repel russian missile and drone strikes.

"The Patriot systems are vital for Ukraine. They protect our people, our cities, and critical infrastructure from relentless кussian air attacks," Denys Shmyhal emphasized, underlining their central role in shielding the country's skies during the ongoing war.

In addition to bolstering air defense, Washington also approved the sale of Starlink satellite communication services and related equipment for an estimated $150 million. The network has been instrumental in ensuring secure battlefield communication and maintaining civilian connectivity despite russian efforts to disrupt Ukraine's information infrastructure.

Ukraine's leadership has repeatedly stressed that both effective air defense and stable communications are decisive factors in sustaining military resilience and protecting the civilian population. The integration of the Patriot systems with reliable satellite connectivity provides a dual layer of protection: one against physical threats from the air, and another against attempts to isolate the country digitally.

As Defense Express previously previously reported, Ukraine's air defense capabilities have received another significant boost with the arrival of an additional IRIS-T SLM system. This latest delivery brings the total number of such German-made systems deployed across the country to eight, forming what can now be described as a substantial fleet safeguarding Ukrainian skies.
