Ukrainian combat aviation continues to play a decisive role in striking key russian targets, often under conditions of extreme risk. A recently released video from the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine sheds light on one such mission, where pilots carried out a high-precision strike using an entire arsenal of Western weaponry.
The commander of the tactical aviation brigade, who personally participated in the mission, emphasized that he does not send inexperienced pilots into the most dangerous sorties.

"I don't throw the young into battle, I prepare them," he explained, underlining his responsibility to lead by example in situations where risk levels are exceptionally high.
The operation itself unfolded in several coordinated stages. The opening move involved the launch of the ADM-160 MALD decoy missiles. These systems are designed to simulate aircraft signatures and draw enemy air defense fire, thereby clearing the path for strike assets.
According to the pilot involved, "These missiles are meant to take the main hit of air defense and create interference."
Meanwhile, on another airbase, crews prepared long-range Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles for the main strike. At the same time, other pilots employed the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles to suppress russian radar systems. This integration of capabilities reflects the growing sophistication of Ukraine's air operations, as well as the effectiveness of Western-supplied precision weapons.
Once the air defense suppression phase was underway, Ukrainian strike crews advanced to predesignated launch zones. There, they released cruise missiles toward their targets.
The pilots reported flawless execution, "I was already informed that all missiles hit their objectives. Usually, we don't celebrate, it has already become routine for us."

The brigade commander himself led one of the most dangerous sorties. For him, setting an example is part of leadership.
"My flight crews are eager to fight. There is always a line. But when I see the task is too risky, I try to go myself. A commander must show the example," he stressed.
Such missions, however, come with constant danger. The russian air defense network remains one of the most formidable obstacles Ukrainian aviation faces. The successful completion of this operation demonstrates how carefully planned combined-arms tactics can neutralize these defenses and strike deep into enemy-held territory.
