The West Air Command has released new footage showing a tactical aviation pilot launching anti-radiation missiles at russian air defense systems, a critical component of the ongoing effort to clear the skies for future strikes. The video, published on October 22 on the Command's official Facebook page.
According to the Command, these missions play a decisive role in enabling Ukraine's other strike assets to operate effectively. By targeting and disabling russian radar systems and surface-to-air missile sites, Ukrainian forces can "open the sky", ensuring that drones, bombers, and missile carriers can engage enemy targets with reduced risk.

The footage shows a fighter jet from the tactical aviation brigade conducting a precision strike with anti-radiation missiles, weapons designed specifically to home in on enemy radar emissions. Such systems are key to neutralizing russian S-300 and S-400 launchers, which remain among Moscow's most powerful tools against Ukrainian aircraft.
The West Air Command reported that since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion, its aviation units have destroyed more than 400 ground targets. These include air defense systems, radar stations, logistics hubs, and command centers. The command attributed these achievements to the integration of Western precision munitions with Ukrainian aircraft, combining advanced technology with local tactical knowledge.
The statement from the Command also emphasized the professionalism and determination of Ukraine's fighter pilots. Operating from airfields across the country, they conduct sorties under constant threat of enemy missile attacks. Each mission, it noted, serves a single purpose – to defend Ukraine's sovereignty and push russian forces out of its territory.
As Defense Express previously reported, on October 21, 2025, the Ukrainian Air Force, in coordination with the Ground Forces, Navy, and other components, conducted a successful strike on the Bryansk Chemical Plant, a key enterprise within russia's military-industrial complex. The operation, announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, represents another step in Kyiv's ongoing campaign to degrade russia's ability to sustain its war effort.
