Pig-faced error messages replace content on targeted sites

On July 15, 2024, a volunteer hacker community, in collaboration with cyber experts from the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, launched an attack on approximately 100 web resources in russia.

As of July 16, 39 of the targeted russian websites remain offline. The cyberattack aimed to disrupt the internal information systems of companies serving russia’s public sector, which is involved in the war against Ukraine.

The following entities were notably affected:

  • MITgroup: A group of companies specializing in the development of corporate websites;
  • Perm Equipment Plant: An enterprise that manufactures and supplies lifting equipment for industrial facilities;
  • United Crane Technologies: A commercial and manufacturing company that produces and sells lifting equipment;
  • RUMOS-LADA: A LADA car dealership.

As a result of the cyberattack, the affected russian websites now display a pig’s head and a “404 error” code instead of their usual content.
