The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) reported of the first sample of updated Sea Baby maritime drone, which has name - Avdiivka. This became possible thanks to a large-scale fundraising of UAH 300 million to create 35 such drones.
The new generation of Sea Baby drones is noticeably different from the previous one. According to the SSU, it has become "even more deadly for the enemy". The new version of Sea Baby drone is currently being tested.

"The new SeaBaby 2024 has improved technical characteristics, greater combat capabilities and maneuverability. It is capable of delivering almost a ton of explosives over 1,000 kilometers," the statement reads.
At the same time, it was emphasized that Sea Baby maritime drone is a multi-purpose universal platform and can be equipped with its own weapons. And works on its installation are in progress.
"In the process, the SSU developers will adapt the latest onboard weapons specially designed and manufactured for use on multi-purpose platforms such as Sea Baby," the SSU reported.
After all, comparing the new and previous versions of Sea Baby drone, we can say that they really differ visually, both in terms of the body and communication systems.
For example, the use of Starlink is no longer a secret. But it is obviously that in this form and with this method of cabling, it is a temporary solution for demonstration purposes. Another backup communication channel is Kymeta satellite communications. Its antenna is located at the stern. The ribs on the deck of the new version of the drone have also been removed, which should have a positive impact on its low visibility.
And the statistics released by the SSU deserve special attention: "the SSU blew up the Crimean bridge and hit 11 russian warships with the help of maritime drones."
It is known that this drone was involved in the attack on the Crimean bridge. But effective attacks with Sea Baby drone on 11 russian ships means that these drones played a much broader role in the destruction of russian Black Sea Fleet.
Earlier Defense Express reported that Ukraine had neutralized russian fast attack craft with the Magura V5 drone.
