​Ukraine's Intelligence Chief Expects a Major Ukrainian Counteroffensive This Spring

The fighting is to be the "hottest" in March, and Ukrainian troops will not stop before the Donbas and Crimea

Head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said there will be more liberated Ukrainian territories in the near future, as soon as this spring, in an interview to ABC News. The "hottest" battles are expected to unfold in March:

"This is [when we will see more] liberation of territories and dealing the final defeats to the Russian Federation. This will happen throughout Ukraine, from Crimea to the Donbas," the Ukrainian top intelligence general said.

"Our goal, and we will achieve it, is returning to the borders of 1991, like Ukraine is recognized by all subjects of international law," Budanov added.

He also assured that Ukraine would not hesitate to launch strikes on Crimea since it is recognized as Ukraine's territory:

"Crimea is Ukrainian territory, we can use any weapon on our territory."

As for strikes on russian territory, he did not take responsibility for the attack on the Engels air base where strategic aircraft of the russian "aerospace forces" was stationed. However, Budanov suggested there would be more such explosions inside russia in the future, "deeper and deeper".
