Ukrainian Sargan-3000 system equipped with a gun was used to destroy russian unmanned surface vehicle in the Black Sea on September 12

On September 12, 2026, Ukraine successfully interdicted russian one-way attack unmanned surface vehicle in the Black Sea. Ukrainian forces employed the Sargan-3000 USV with a mounted gun to destroy russian craft before it could pose a threat to Ukrainian sea lines of communication, according to the UK Defence Intelligence.

It is highly unlikely russian USV was armed with any counter-drone capability. This event almost certainly marks the first time russian and Ukrainian USV have engaged each other directly.

Ukraine has innovatively combined weaponry in its USV fleet. In early 2024, Ukraine began to equip some of its Magura USV's with air to air missiles, which it used to successfully shoot down russian Su-30 fighter and a military helicopter in 2025.

Ukraine's latest iteration, displayed on Ukrainian Independence Day in Kyiv on August 24, 2026, is Magura MV11 system designed to intercept russian unmanned aerial systems.
