This is stated in the intelligence report published by the UK Ministry of Defense on X (former Twitter).
"Average daily Russian casualties (killed and wounded) in Ukraine have decreased over the past two months from the peak of the conflict, which was more than 1,262 people per day in May, to 1,140 in July 2024. Despite this decline, the last three months have been the "most expensive" for Russian forces since February 2022," the report reads.

It is reported that the reduction in daily average probably indicates that the russian forces are "consolidating positions in the Kharkiv axis".
"Although this new approach has increased the pressure on the frontline, an effective Ukrainian defense and a lack of russian training reduces russia's ability to exploit tactical successes into wider operational gaines," the statement stresses.
The UK Defence Intelligence’s analysts predict that russia’s casualty rate will likely continue to average above 1,000 a day throughout August 2024 as russia continues offensive operations on a wide front from Kharkiv in the north to Robotyne in the south of Ukraine.
As Defense Express reported, earlier The UK Defense Intelligence Forecasted Increase in russian Losses Over Next 2 Months.
