russia has initiated offensive actions in the Kursk region to push back Ukrainian forces, but over the past week, the occupiers have made no significant advances toward Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, the UK Defense Intelligence reports.
The update highlights that russia continues its high-tempo offensive operations along several sections of the front line. In the Kursk region, where Ukraine has held control over approximately 800-900 square kilometers of territory since mid-August 2024, russian forces have launched a counteroffensive.

"Led by Airborne and Naval Infantry units, russian forces have attacked Ukrainian positions in the west of the salient and have likely recaptured several villages," the report says.
Additionally, russian troops have been slowly advancing toward Vuhledar in eastern Ukraine and southeast of Pokrovsk.
"However, no significant progress has been made towards Pokrovsk itself within the past week," the British intelligence update concludes.
