Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops, reported that on August 6, 2023, the russian troops used chemical munitions in the area of Novodanylivka on August 6.
As noted, the enemy launched two artillery strikes from MLRS with munitions containing a chemical substance (presumably chloropicrin).

The russians conducted such a shelling to stop the advance of Ukraine’s troops. At the same time, the enemy violated all possible international conventions that prohibit the use of ammunition with chemical equipment. But it is important that As a result of this shelling, no one was injured.
The official announcement does not specify exactly what type of MLRS the russians used for such an attack, and accordingly, what caliber these rockets were. Another unknown detail in this story is the origin of the shells. Were they received directly from the warehouses of the russian army, or were they received from other rogue states, for example, from North Korea.
It should be emphasized that the occupiers for the first time used such powerful weapons against the defenders of Ukraine, namely chemical equipment. Until now, there have been repeated reports that the russians are using chlorpicrin against Ukrainian servicemen on the frontline, but previously only the facts of the use of K-51 hand grenades with chemical munitions, which were dropped on Ukrainian positions with drones, were recorded.
This tactic is treacherous, as it does not allow its victim to immediately determine the nature of the threat. And the use of rockets with chemical equipment by the russians is double treachery, as it is aimed at the maximum effect of defeating the defenders of Ukraine.
